MostAfricancountrieshavemadeuniversalhealthcoverage(UHC)agoaloftheirnationalhealthstrategies.InordertostrengthencommitmentsandacceleratethejourneytowardsachievingUHC,countriesmusteffectivelyaddressthechallengesposedbyexpandinghealthcareutilization.Atthisonlineseminar,expertsfromAfricawilldiscusstheroleofHTAinpromotingUHCandshareexperiencesandlessonslearnedonhowtobuildhealthsystemstoimplementHTAandhowtouseHTAtoprovideinformationforUHCdecision-making.Dr.TamaraKredowilldiscussthecrucialimportanceofminimizingsilosinnationalevidencegenerationsystemstosupportevidence-baseddecision-making,sharingherexperienceinSouthAfricaandasamemberoftheGlobalWorkingGroupGINAHTA,acollaborationbetweentheGuideInternationalNetwork(GIN)andtheHealthTechnologyAssessmentCommunity(INAHTA).Dr.JusticeNonvignonwilldiscusshowtouseHTAtosupportpolicydecisionsinGhanaandsomeHTAinitiativesontheAfricancontinent.Dr.SophieFayewillintroducethemainfindingsoftheWorldHealthOrganization''s2021globalsurveyonHTAandhealthwelfareprogram

Collectingreal-worlddataandgeneratingreal-worldevidencefromitisbecomingincreasinglyimportantformakingbetterdecisionsinthehealthcarefield.CentralandEasternEuropean(CEE)countriesareoftenlateadoptersofnewhealthtechnologies,therefore,theirHTAsystemscanbenefitfromtransmittingdataandevidence,includingRWD,RWE,andmethodsfromothercountries(primarilyfromWesternEurope).However,inreality,thissituationrarelyoccurs.Thepurposeofthisonlineseminaristodiscussthefollowingquestion:WhatarethemainobstaclestothetransmissionofdataandmethodsfromCentralandEasternEurope,whichoriginatedinWesternEurope?Whatarethesuggestedsolutionstoovercometheseobstaclesandopportunities?OrestaPiniazhkowillhostthiswebinarandshareherexperienceindevelopingmethodologyguidelinesandHTAconclusionsfortransferabilityinUkraine.BertalanNemethwillpresentthemainfindingsofthenext-generationHTAresearchprogramfundedbytheEUHorizon2020,duringwhichtheseissueswereinvestigated.ArisAngeliswillfocusonthebarriersandopportunitiesinthetransferabilityofdata

Toguideandsteerthisdiscussion,thespeakerwillintroducethekeydecision-makingpathsforMD&Dreimbursementinspecificcountries/regions,tocompareandcontrastevidencerequirements,andexplorewhetherRWEcanmeettheseneeds.TheseelementswillbeaccompaniedbyexamplesthatwillconsidertheimpactofHTAbarriers,RWEdefinitions,andRWEvalidationrelatedtothecountry/region,inordertomakethemacceptabletodecision-makingbodies.Then,thedebatewillfocusontheadvantagesandlimitationsofreal-worlddatainthecontextofaccountingdecisions;ThiswillincludetheacceptanceofRWEfromotherregions(suchastheUnitedStates)inEurope,compliancewithGDPRrulesfortheuse/accessofRWE,andensuringRWEqualityperspectivesthatmeetthepurpose.
